Frequently Asked Questions

IBH uses a HIPAA compliant and secure video conference tool that allows for a live, two-way experience between clients and the clinician. Clients have their live sessions with a mental health clinician from their couch to ours.

Tele-health can be as effective as sitting in a therapist’s physical office. It offers more flexibility, access to services, and convenience for clients who work late hours, live in rural communities, have physical limitations, transportation/commuting difficulties, and who are more comfortable in their natural setting. A secondary benefit of tele-health is the increased privacy and confidentiality/

Therapy is an invaluable investment for you. The insight, skill set, and introspection gained will not only provide guidance for today’s struggles; it will serve as the foundation for tomorrow’s solutions. Clients deserve freedom in navigating their treatment course instead of the precarious nature of utilizing health insurance providers. Insurance providers determine the number of treatment sessions necessary and require a mental health diagnosis. Medical claims and records of your treatment are documented with the Medical Information Bureau (MIB) and can be made available to interested parties, e.g. life insurance providers, employment screenings for government clearances.

The first step is to schedule a free consultation through videoconference. This allows clients to get comfortable utilizing the software and to trouble any foreseeable difficulties. During the consultation, the clinician will conduct a “Screen To Fit” assessment that determines your suitability for tele-health services. This should take around 15-20 minutes. This is an opportunity for clients to ask as many questions to determine if they want to move forward. Tele-health is not a “one size fits all” service and may be too mild of a treatment style for some disorders. In this instance, a referral to a local practice and clinician will occur. If you are eligible for tele-health services, an appointment will be scheduled for a Comprehensive Clinical Assessment (CCA). A CCA takes approximately 60 minutes to complete. Your clinician will provide education on your diagnosis during the initial session and move forward with scheduling future sessions.

Everyone’s circumstances are unique to them. The length of time in therapy can range. Our focus is helping you accomplish your goals for your personal development and symptom reduction. Progress in treatment is largely affected by your commitment and the factors that are driving you to seek therapy in the first place.

Not at all. People who ask for help know when they need it and have the ability to reach out.\ You already have some strengths that you’ve used before, that for whatever reason aren’t working right now. Perhaps this problem feels overwhelming and is making it difficult to access your past strengths. In our work together, I’ll help you identify what those strengths are and how to implement them again in what is happening now.

Your confidentiality and privacy are our top priority. Unfortunately, these communication tools are not HIPAA compliant or secure. We will have to utilize a platform that outlines confidentiality policies and protects your health information.
